The Trump administration’s 2025 proclamation imposes a one-time $100,000 fee on new H-1B visa petitions.


  • This surcharge applies only to first-time H-1B filings (beginning with the 2026 lottery cycle).

  • Current H-1B holders and renewal petitions are exempt from the $100,000 payment.

  • By comparison, prior application costs—including base filing, fraud prevention, and ACWIA fees—typically ranged from about $1,700 to $4,500 (excluding optional premium processing).
